Selank: Tuftsin-Derived Research Peptide Selank is a synthetic seven-amino-acid peptide developed as an analog of tuftsin, a naturally occurring peptide associated with immune-system regulation. Its amino-acid sequence is Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. Selank has attracted scientific interest because of its observed effects on neurological, behavioral, and neuroimmune pathways in experimental models. Researchers have primarily investigated its relationship with stress responses, anxiety-related behavior, memory, learning, and neurotransmitter signaling. Researchers study Selank for its potential role in: • Stress- and anxiety-related behavioral models • GABAergic signaling and gene expression • Memory, learning, and attention pathways • Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) regulation • Neuroplasticity and adaptive brain responses • Neurotransmitter and enkephalin metabolism • Neuroimmune communication and cytokine activity Preclinical studies suggest that Selank may influence the GABAergic system and alter the expression of genes involved in neurotransmission.
